2017 – [Tr 3.0] Productive city _ Sweden
Program Creation of a district (Development of our researches on the productive city)
Site area 48 ha
Place Trelleborg, Sweden
Client Municipality of Trelleborg – Europan competition
Team Eric Cassar, Tinhinan Laoubi, Aitor Ugartemendia Jimenez
General principles This new district of Trelleborg city includes numeric infrastructures which are mutualized (smart city). The same system will help to regulate energy, space sharing / occupancy and will be useful to implant services. New job (such as concierge, hospitality manager) will be created in order to preserve a human link between users and digital technologies. The objective is to multiply local synergies and city intelligences (sensitive, rational, imaginative and social) in order to provide a shared and productive city.
Play with timeline scales
These spaces change in the long term (annually – work phasing at the neighbourhood level) and short-term (daily – uses).
Combine uses through architectural typology (relief urbanism, courtyards typologies, stepped profiles, etc.)
Buildings will mix various programs in order to optimize space mutualization. They will intermingle private, shared and public spaces. And sometimes even try to bring more…
Most of the buildings are mixed use buildings (housing, offices, equipment…)
Cohabit with flora and fauna
In order to reintroduce fauna and flora, eco-pasturage are created on free land during the building site. The pier new district is shaped by a vegetal river and vegetal affluents anchored to the existing gardens and parks. New vegetal continuities, including intervention on the existing city roads when needed, will connect the pier vegetal infrastructure. Those continuities improve the propagation of fauna. Combined with vegetal walks they invite the inhabitants (pedestrian and cyclist) to discover and appropriate the new pier district.
Play with the weather
Our approach is not to create an ideal and uniform climate but to generate variations of atmospheres by exacerbating micro-climates properties in order to produce wide ranges of atmospheres.
Network and urban intensity
Usually when a new district is created, the road network is first designed and then the building blocks plan are adapted. We want to create a district where they are interconnected. The roads will be designed in relation with the buildings in order to provide energies exchange, uses and poetic relationship.
Road uses will be managed through time thanks to digital, therefore it will be easy to increase space for cars in order to reduce traffic jam or to restrict their access to promote pedestrian uses during the week-end or for special events.
